The Sturm Residence features adobe construction with a pitched tin metal roof. The building blends in with the surrounding architectural style of Northern New Mexico. In keeping with the traditional New Mexican floor plan, the space has no hallways; the exterior portal provides circulation and there are also direct doorways between the rooms. The interiors are finished with oak and maple floors, aspen ceilings, and interior plastering on the walls. The house is designed to take advantage of passive solar heating and has an efficient in-floor radiant heat system. The house was sited on the upper portion of the property to keep the pasture area open for continued farming and grazing use.
